Moderator's Note

Fishermen youth at Nagapattinam working with us as volunteers and with their support we are able to extend our support to many schools and many affected people.
To provide them an alternative employment we have placed them in hotel industry but they couldn't stick on the job due to various reasons. Now, three fishermen youth were involved in construction work but finding it very difficult to cope up with the work. They have courage and confidence and they used to say that they will work hard and get back whatever they lost except the lives. Till such time they go back to their normal profession, we need to find out alternative employment for the fishermen and people related to fishing and marketing.
Even Collector of Nagai used to say that all the NGOs and donors whoever involved in relief works, involve the fishermen in civil works and various activities so that they work on their own land and paid for their services. We welcome suggestions from you all for their alternative employment.

So far, two fishermen employed in Akkarapettai under one month probation will perform their service in visiting schools to implement AKANKSHA's training program and one person will be involved in distribution of materials.
